Farmers' Market Site to be Named for DRBA's Own Pat Miller

During the ribbon-cutting at last Saturday's 20th Annual Art on the Avenue, DRBA Treasurer Pat Miller was the subject of a surprise announcement: the site of the Del Ray Farmers' Market, located at the corner of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Oxford Street, is to be named "The Pat Miller Neighborhood Square," pending approval by the City.

The naming of the square recognizes Pat's tireless efforts to improve Del Ray and the City of Alexandria. In addition to her position on the Del Ray Business Association Board, Pat also manages the Del Ray Farmers' Market and sits on numerous Boards and committees throughout the City, including Art on the Avenue. In 2012, Pat was named a Living Legend of Alexandria.

Although the proposal has to go through a City approval process, the entire City Council, Mayor Bill Euille, the Del Ray Citizens' Association and the Del Ray Business Association have all publicly endorsed the effort, and no opposition is anticipated. "Pat is one of the hardest-working, most dedicated champions of Del Ray. It was a no-brainer," said DRBA President Bill Blackburn regarding DRBA's endorsement.
