Del Ray Business Association Launches DEL RAY BINGO To Promote Small Businesses While Social Distancing

The Del Ray Business Association launched DEL RAY BINGO, in an effort to promote a safe and fun way to support our small businesses while social distancing.   

The Del Ray Business Association will release a new bingo cards every two weeks, featuring ways to support our restaurants, retailers, and wellness providers; plus challenges to build community and give back to our nonprofits -- safely.  Thanks to the City of Lancaster for the inspiration!

The first card, which covers April 27 to May 10, includes special challenges for Mother's Day, plus activities for a socially distant First Thursday, scheduled for May 7.

How to Play:

  • Wear a face mask, maintain social distance, and support our small businesses!
  • Complete five squares in any row & take a picture of your food or retail purchase, your challenge, or a screenshot of your receipt.
  • Every bingo line you complete (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) is a chance to win $50 in Del Ray Dollars.  Complete more than one bingo line for more entries!  Each row is another entry in the drawing -- fill the entire card for 12 chances to win.
  • Once you are ready to submit your have a bingo (horizontal, vertical or diagonal), send your pictures by email to delraybingo@gmail.com. Be sure to include a photo of your marked card.
  • The deadline to submit your cards is the Wednesday after the final date on the card.  We will draw one winner every two weeks.

  1. May's First Thursday is moving online and to Del Ray's front porches while maintaining social distancing!  Decorate your porch, draw inspirational chalk art, and tag #VisitDelRay for a chance to win prizes.  Visit www.visitdelray/firsthursday for more details.

  2. The Del Ray Farmers' Market is open on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for pickup of pre-orders only.  For details on how to order from our local farmers and vendors, visit delrayfarmersmarket.com

  3. The Purple Goose and Bellies & Babies are both open for curbside pickup and Facetime shopping, or shopping while maintaining strict social distancing.  For more information, visit thepurplegoose.com and www.belliesbabies.com.

  4. In addition to its incredible biscuits, Stomping Ground is offering dinner to go bags.  Order online for curbside pickup at www.stompdelray.com

  5. Truly-Life Eco-Friendly Gifts features all-natural, locally produced skin care products and gifts, with free delivery to 22301, and free DIY hand soap kit with purchase.  Online at truly-life.com.

  6. Dinner is done with Cheesetique's Family Dinner to go bags -- and includes wine!  Visit cheesetique.com to order online for pickup, or order via DoorDash for delivery.  

  7. Del Ray is hosting a Virtual Pop-Up Market from May 3-10 -- just in time for Mother's Day!  Visit visitdelray.com for details on unique gifts from local artisans and at-home entrepreneurs. 

  8. Order bagels & fixins at Bagel Uprising for curbside pickup. Order online at www.bageluprising.com.

  9. Del Ray Artisans moved their "Tell Me A Story" exhibit online!  You can purchase artwork from local artists from the exhibit by contacting Gallery@DelRayArtisans.org by June 10; the art will be available for pick up once the gallery reopens. For more information, visit delrayartisans.org.

  10. Our fitness studios have moved online!  Visit Ease Yoga & Cafe at www.easeyogacafe.com or Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga at mindthemat.com and take a yoga class online. 

  11. Order cocktails-to-go or a cocktail making kit from Pork Barrel BBQ!  Curb-side pickup available; visit alxhgr.com to place your order. Delivery available via UberEats and Postmates.

  12. So many of our neighbors are in need.  Donate canned foods for ALIVE! and the Grace Episcopal Food Pantry during First Thursday: Porch Party!  On May 7, walk your donations down to the intersection of your street and Mt. Vernon Avenue or Commonwealth Avenue (from Braddock to Hume) and leave them on the sidewalk for pickup.  Please maintain social distancing.

  13. FREE SPACE!

  14. Many of our restaurants -- including Market2Market, Junction Bakery & Bistro, Cheesetique, and Hops N Shine offer grocery store staples with contactless pick up.  Add flour, yeast, milk, toilet paper, produce and more to your dinner order and avoid the grocery store!

  15. Kiskadee's latest arrivals are featured online, with phone orders accepted with free delivery. Kiskadee is also offering shopping by appointment outside of their regular hours -- text or call the owner at 703-606-5254 for an appointment.   16. The Dog Store offers free delivery of dog food, chews, treats, and other needs directly to your doorstep, with no delivery charge; curbside pickup is also available.  Call 703-685- 9166. 

  17. The CDC now recommends all individuals wear face masks in public settings.  Hand-made face masks are available from The Purple Goose, Greener Cleaner, Yates Dry Cleaning, and Bellies and Babies.

  18. Purchasing gift cards now helps businesses maintain cash flow during this challenging period.  Purchase one from your favorite retailer, restaurant, or wellness provider for future use.

  20. Many restaurants, including Pork Barrel BBQ/Holy Cow/The Sushi BarHops N ShineLena's Wood-Fired Pizza and Tap, and Evening Star Cafe have relief funds for laid off employees.  If you're able please consider making a donation.
