Teacher Appreciation week is the week of May 6. The PTA will be doing things that week to show appreciation for the Mt. Vernon Community School teachers, including sending them notes and redecorating their lounge. The PTA would love to show them how much our whole community appreciates them too. If your business would like to run a special/provide a discount for teachers during that week/weekend, please let Jen know so the PTA can publicize it. Our teachers all have MVCS teacher ID cards, so they can identify themselves to your business as an MVCS teacher. Thanks so much for your continued support! And don't forget the Big Flea this weekend!

Here is a good opportunity to support the teachers at Mt. Vernon Community School -- just drop an email to Jen Atlins atjsandsatkins@yahoo.com and put in the subject line "Teacher Appreciation"...hope you can help!

    About Old Hickory Golf Club
Located in Woodbridge, Virginia, Old Hickory Golf Club is the Premier Upscale Golf Course and Banquet facility in the area. The course at Old Hickory Golf Club was designed to fit its site with great precision. The Par-72, 7077-yard championship layout is the work of architect Tim Freeland, who previously worked for the design firm of golf legend Gary Player.

The Tournament fee, $800 per foursome or $225 for a single player - prior to June 2, $900 per foursome or $250 for single player after, includes 18-holes of golf, one hour open bar and awards reception buffet, a premium give-away item, prizes for longest and straightest drive, putting and closest to the pin, sleeve of balls, cart, and more!

Rules of Play/Format: USGA rules govern all play; Captain's Choice Scramble.

Handicaps will not be used in scoring.

Procedure for Play: Each player hits a shot, then the best shot is chosen and each player hits from within one club-length of that spot. The player whose drive is selected isn't eligible to hit the next shot. The best shot is chosen again and play continues until the ball is holed. A minimum of three drives from each player must be used throughout the tournament.

First Aid Kits: The Golf First Aid Kit is a bag of rescue items in the event of a bad shot; one Mulligan (or do-over), one tee (so you can tee up from wherever your ball happens to land). Multiple rescue items may be used in conjunction with each other. However, rescue items may not be used to sink the ball. Items may not be used on hole-in-one holes.
